DVI-D To VGA No Signal

i just bought a DVI-D To VGA cable to use my other monitor but when i plug the vga into the adapter it just says no signal and i know both monitors i tried on they both are working its just annoying i just wasted money on this brand new dvi-d adapter there must be some way to fix it

DVI-D is a digital only interface. VGA is an analog interface. You need an ACTIVE converter like this -- www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812400402

I don't know why. But if you truly have DVI-D only then you have to have an active converter to convert from digital to analog.
