DVI-D -vs- VGA

Is there any reason to buy a DVI-D cable instead of using the regular VGA cable with the DVI-D to VGA adapter?
I have a ATI 8500 DV & a NEC LCD 1860nx.

I persoanlly find DVI on my LCD to be of much better image quality. The VGA always seems to be darker and have a green tinge. However it depends on how sensitive your eyees are and also which your monitor works best under.

Hey thanks for the info. I didn't want to drop the extra bucks unless it was worth it. haven't heard very much about it
