I got a DVI Dual link cable for my new 144hz benQ monitor... In the drop down menu it gives me the option of 144hz but it drops the resolution... Do I need to download certain driver to my computer so it can push out that much? Also when I try to switch to 144hz my monitor displays a message saying " this cable does not support 144hz please use the cable that came with the monitor. Could this be a bad cable? If so could someone provide me a like to a reputable DVI Dual link cable so I can buy one offline... The one I have was purchased off eBay and think this may be a cheap cable.

The monitor has no real means of detecting whether the cable is good or bad aside from the signal getting through. If the monitor outright complains that the cable doesn't support the resolution and refresh rate combination, it means something is very wrong with the cable, such as not actually being dual-link or having defective lanes. If you have a multimeter, you could try checking for end-to-end continuity on the 24 DVI-D pins.

my monitor does not have a DP slot... the GTX 1050TI that i has does.... so i got DP to DVI_Dual Link and it wouldent even let me go to 144hz with the resolution drop so i ignored that suloution off the rip... im hoping i got a bad cable so ill prob just buy another one!

i know for a fact that this monitor goes to 144 hz so im assuming its my cable. ive looked up specs for my GPU and it supports 144hz i was just unsure if i needed a certain driver for my monitor.
