Question DVI-I Splitter to two VGA

Hi Everyone,

I've a user at a remote site asking to convert an older Single DVI-I port Wyse unit to two monitors (spanned, not duplicated).

I know this DVI-I port supports splitting into 1 DVI-I and one VGA and happily spans two monitors when doing so.

Does anyone know if the DVI-I on such a splitter could then have a DVI-I to VGA converter stuck on it to essentially be two VGAs?

Every DVI-I to two VGA splitter only does duplicate, not span so I'm guessing not, but I figured someone might have a more definitive answer.

Cheers

Paddy

You can't use a "splitter" to have two different screens, you are just sending the same signal to two different screens. If this port works with two screens and shows a different thing on both, it's not really a DVI port. What exactly is the model of this terminal? You may be looking at a DMS-59 port not DVI, they look similar. Or if it's a DVI connection it may be custom to this model and pinned out differently, or the video adapter is custom.
