DVI-I vs DVI-D for 1440p

I have a alienware m14x hooked up to my dual BenQ GW2765HT and I am not getting a 1440p resolution option, and I think it is because I am using 1 HDMI and 1 VGA connection. I am going to switch out the VGA connection to a DVI, but which one should I use ? DVI I or DVI D for the best 1440p resolution?

DVI-I is the same as DVI-D but includes an analog signal as well. When connecting to a digital input, there is no difference.

I don't see why not. The specs state:

Will support the ASUS VS228H-P / Acer G246HL / HP Pavillion C4D33AA#ABA / ViewSonic VA2446M at their max resolutions as well as monitors with resolutions of up to 2560x1600
