ok so the title basically says it, but I have a question that trusty google cant help me with.
which is better for on the gpu with dual display? DVI or HDMI? I know the main difference is that HDMI is primarily used for 1080p along with audio where DVI is just 1080p, but I need to know which will not strain the gpu as much in dual display?
I have two monitors and I have one DVI and one HDMI right now, but with summer coming I know its going be raising the temps on it anyways. My general max temp is 75c or below which is my ideal temp even though the card can max out to 100c, but I like to prolong the life of it as long as I can being a father of 4 and the only one working in the house.
Any help is highly appreciated.....

Not sure I understand the question. If you're using a dual display setup, you're going to need both cables anyway. If, because of Summer, you're looking to cut down on the heat by going to a single display, then neither one puts more stress on the card than the other. The card is still outputting a single digital signal (whether it be DVI or HDMI).

The type of connection you use shouldn't have any effect on the 'stress' applied to your hardware. DVI also isn't capped at 1080p, HDMI has the benefit of carrying an audio signal but both are digital signals and you shouldn't see a difference in image quality. Also if you are concerned about conserving energy in the summer I would start in other parts of your house not the cable that connects your computer to your monitor. Energy efficient windows and seals for instance...your computer is going to play a very minor role except if your gaming and you have a beefy GPU/CPU.
