DVI port too big/ too small

Hi, bought a hdmi to dvi adapter to connect my ps3 into a monitor. Unfortunately went to connect the golden spiked dvi into the port but this physically did not work. Wondering if this because of the port on the back of the monitor being too small or the dvi being too big, either way it doesnt fit! Very annoying! Thanks

Aside from the different pin configuration, make sure you have it turned the right way, the D shape on the DVI cables is pretty small and may be easy to have it upside down.

Thanks for your help, as soon as I wrote this query realised it was a vga port on the monitor so it was never going to work.
