My monitor is LG 23mp68vq that supports 75hz but can only work via HDMI. Will a DVI to HDMI cable work and let me set my monitor to 75hz? I'll plug the DVI on my graphics card and HDMI on the monitor, so will it work the 75hz?

Why not use dvi? Specs of the monitor says it has it, is it broken?

Dvi to hdmi will still be limited in displaying optimal hz range. You might be able to adjust hz manually in gpu software for custom resolution.

Hdmi has no dramas doing 75Hz its just a matter if the monitor's hdmi port was manufactured to accept. Or Dvi to Dvi is required.

When I use dvi to dvi, freesync settings on my monitor is blacked out which I need to make my monitor go 75hz. I use hdmi on my gpu to my tv but I want my monitor to be able to go 75hz as well. Does custom adjusting to 75hz on nvidia control panel bad?

Is see, fair enough. Bit of dilemma there.

Dvi for 75Hz vs Hdmi for Freesync. Since dvi cannot do Freesync from the gpu your forced to choose.

There is such a thing as overclocking monitors passed it's rated Hz range. Overclocking may reduce life span. Since your monitor's panel is 75Hz there is no problem customising if the monitor accepts the signal. It all comes down to if LG restricted the hdmi port or not.

Fyi, Freesync is a connection between gpu and monitor. Freesync requires hdmi or displayport at each end.

Your monitor accepts 75Hz using dvi but only 60 using hdmi. Using an dvi to hdmi adapter wont give you 75Hz if the monitor wont allow it + you lose Freesync. Customising resolution & hz is your only option over hdmi if you want Freesync + 75Hz, again if monitor allows it.
