Question DVI to HDMI then to DVI

I know it's weird but hear me out.

My processor upgrade does not have integrated graphics, so I'll have to use my GPU to connect my secondary monitor. I'm currently using an HDMI to DVI cable for my secondary monitor hooked up to my motherboard, and my GPU only has one HDMI port (my main monitor is using that HDMI port). My GPU does have two DVI connections.

Could I hook up an DVI female to HDMI female adapter to that DVI port on my GPU, then hook up that HDMI to DVI cable to my monitor? Will it work?

Here's what it will look like:

GPU <--> [DVI female to HDMI female adapter ] <=======[HDMI to DVI cable] <---> [Secondary monitor]

Sorry if it sounds confusing.

Why not just buy a single DVI to DVI cable? Its like 7 bucks for a 6 foot DVI cable on Amazon. Converting to HDMI then back will just add more potential points of failure and possible issues, such as quality loss converting back and forth.

Easiest to just buy a cable thats needed. In fact might cost less than a DVI to HDMI convertor.

I found an DVI to HDMI adapter on Ebay for $3. It's just a simple adapter. I do have a DVI cable, but it's quite thin. Not sure if it's better than the regular thick ones, but it is dual link.

Acer H236HL is my main, Dell S199WFPV is my secondary.
