Hi, I have my Server that has a DVI graphics card in it that I'm trying to connect to my Portable Monitor that's USB-C. I tried one DVI to USB-C adapter I got from Amazon and that didn't work. It also has a Mini HDMI that's an option. Do I have any options here?

The packaged cables in your link include a Mini-HDMI cable so your best bet is to go from DVI to Mini-HDMI.
  • 1 x Mini-HDMI to HDMI Cable (for video only)
Your DVI to HDMI adapter needs to be male on the DVI side, not female like the link you posted. (Assuming that your server’s graphics card has a female connector like most) This should be the one. You want male DVI to female HDMI.

You don’t need the second adapter you linked, as your monitor came with an HDMI to Mini-HDMI cable. (Goes from the DVI-HDMI adapter directly to the monitor)

You’re still going to need to power the monitor, with either the included USB to USB-C cable or the power adapter.
  • 1 x USB to Type-C Cable (for power only)
  • 1 x 5V 3A Power Adapter
Good luck!

Just to give you guys an update, think I found a solution. Ended up keeping the DVI cable I had a in place (since it's hooked up already) and used the "DTech DVI Female to HDMI Male Adapter Bi-Directional DVI-I 24+5 Port Converter" adapter then "UGREEN Mini HDMI to HDMI Adapter Aluminum Shell 4K 60Hz Mini HDMI to HDMI Female Cable" adapter to make the HDMI mini connection to the portable monitor. That worked great! The adapter's flexible enough to move the monitor around. I previously tried the "Cmple - Mini HDMI Male to HDMI Female Adapter" and it worked for a second then bent and broke immediately. Returned that one and got the UGREEN one and super happy now.

Any guess why the DVI to USB-C one didn't work?

USB-C display alt mode cables tend to be one way, from the USB-C side to the display. So it's not a DVI to USB-C cable, it's a USB-C HDMI alt mode to DVI cable (HDMI 1.x and DVI are electrically compatible).

In addition, the video protocol for monitors that use USB-C as the input is likely DP, so it can't accept HDMI/DVI anyway.

That makes sense (I think haha). Would that adapter ever work?
