DVI to VGA adapter not fitting onto my DVI port on PC.

I just bought an adapter so i can use a second monitor, but it seems to not fit fully onto the port even if it is compatible. Any Ideas?

There is DVI D, DVI I and DVI A. Which is your cable and which is the video connection?

Are you plugging into a DVI-I or DVI-D port? It makes all the difference in the world.

DVI-I = 4 additional pins carrying the analog VGA signal.

DVI-D = Digital ONLY. No pins for analog.

A DVI-I adapter will NOT fit a DVI-D port.
