Hey,
So for some reason the DVI to VGA adapter isn't working. The monitor is an NEC multisync LCD 1970NX and my graphics card is MSI Gaming N760 TF 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 760 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card- maybe the graphics card is too high of a resolution? or maybe the adapter is the problem because it a DVI-I to VGA?
the computer turns on and the fans on the graphics card turn on if that helps and i also tired to connect it to the tv and it wont work
this is my first build ever and i have waited so long to build it and now it wont work!!!
PLEASE HELP!!!

Solution
problem fixed
first i kept on seeing a red leight blinking on and off near my RAM and right near that was the memOK button i pressed that and it stopped blinking. I tried it on my monitor still didnt fixed so i decided to hook it up to my tv and it worked!!! so my plan is to get a new monitor.

Edit: Just saw your monitor has both DVI-D and VGA ports. My monitor has a VGA port and I just bought a DVI-I to VGA adapter for it and it worked perfectly. You might want to check if your VGA cable is working, or it might be a faulty adapter.

The monitor has 2 ports, a VGA port and a DVI port. One cable, just a regular single link (dual link would also work) DVI cable would provide the best interface (not adapters required.

If the OP has no DVI cable, then the DVI to VGA adapter should be connected to the DVI-I port on the GPU and the VGA cable attached to it and the monitor.

For the DVI port to be used on the monitor, it doesn't matter if connected to a DVI-I or DVI-D port on the video card. Either will work, as noted above.

On the monitor, however, it might be necessary to set (via its on-screen menu) the input port (VGA or DVI). Some older monitors require this to be set by the operator.

What video cables do you have? DVI cables usually have big white connectors. VGA cables usually have smaller purple connectors.

Yes, if you have the DVI to VGA adapter connected to the DVI-I port on your video card and the VGA cable attached to it and the monitor.

Did you make sure you are using the DVI-I port and not the DVI-D port? The DVI-I port on your card is the one just below the HDMI port.

POST means getting past the BIOS screen when starting the system. Are you getting any beeps when you press the power button?

Also, did you connect both the 24-pin main power and 4 (or 8) pin aux power connectors from the PSU to the motherboard, as well as the 2 PCIe connectors from the PSU to the GTX 760. Did all "click" into place, indicating they are fully inserted?
