DVI to VGA adapter

My gpu has DVI-D, 3x HDMI and a display port but my monitor only takes VGA. Can I use a DVI to VGA adapter or will it not work?

Gpu is a Gigabyte 1050 Ti OC 4Gb

That only works with DVI-I ports as they also carry the analog signal the VGA input requires. The card the OP has only has DVI-D (digital only) and needs an active digital to analog signal converter. Something like this StarTech DVI to VGA converter should work.

^ no , none of the new series cards from amd or nvidia support analog natively.
You will have to buy an active converter to use on a VGA screen.

Correct. None of the newer cards support an analog signal anymore. Graphic card manufacturers seem to be under the impression that everyone is running a digital display these days.

The first one, if it's just a cable with HDMI on one end and VGA on the other, then no. The second one may work, but typically, these converters cost around $40. Something significantly cheaper, I wouldn't spend my money on.
