dvi to vga

I recently purchased a Geforce 6800 GT with dual-dvi, and it came with two adapters. I plugged my monitor into one of the adapters and it worked fine. However, the next day, it stopped working. Plugging the monitor into a different computer works, and a friend's dvi monitor works on the new computer. The other adapter does not work either. Plugging the monitor into an adapter when the adapter is not connected to anything makes the picture (previously "no signal" when unplugged from adapter) go blank and the monitor light (previously green) go to solid amber. PLugging the adapter (with the monitor connected to it) into the video card makes no change at all. Seriously, what the hell.

I assume you have probably tried both of the dvi plugs on the video card? How about shutting everything down, plugging in the monitor, and turning it back on. Do you see the post screens at all?
