DVI-VGA Adapter Troubles {Sort of?}

Recently I purchased a DVI male to VGA female adapter without thinking it through as I should. Needless to say I picked up the wrong adapter. Is there any way to make https://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/p531/kcrafton6892/20151205_154836.jpg work with https://i1154.photobucket.com/albums/p531/kcrafton6892/Capture_6.png ? Part of me just wants to remove the four additional prongs but I'm fairly certain that's a bad idea. Any way around buying a new adapter?

No. The ports are DVI-D. To go from DVI-D to VGA requires an active converter. DVI-D is digital only and VGA is analog only. The adapter you bought is for a DVI-I port which is digital and analog. Here's a link to the type of converter you need.
