I bought a cheapo Y cable to split DVI output between a monitor and an old TV. When the TV is not in use I had hoped to use the monitor in its full resolution however, instead, the physical connection to the TV 'pulls down' the resolution to the modern monitor (so I must select a lower res for the monitor). Can I physically interpose a toggle switch somewhere on the cable to the TV so that I can switch it 'off' and remove from the circuit the TV. Maybe a ground line or something? So I would like to cut the cable and splice a toggle switch - which pin should I do this to? Thanks. The goal is to remove the TV from the circuit without physically pulling out DVI cable.
