Hi everybody, I don't know if I'm posting here correctly but I'm kind of desperate to find the solution to this.

Basically when I start my computer it takes a while to load and about 2-3 minutes later the screen turns white with a message saying dwm.exe Application Error... The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application. And when I click OK it stays white forever. I cannot boot in safe mode. I cannot restore any backups.

Please help I cannot find the solution and microsoft community sucks with their unhelpful answers... like you say "I cannot boot in safe mode" and they say to boot in safe mode :pt1cable:

Actually, I was half wrong.

My hard drive is dying, yes, but there's a solution to fix the white screen issue.

THE FIX:

Run chkdsk c: /r /x in Command Prompt. How to get to Command Prompt? Turn on and turn off your PC until there's an option to select Troubleshoot and from there you can look around for Command Prompt. If you know how to get to Safe Boot or System Restore, you'll find Command Prompt there.

After the PC finishes that, turn off your computer and turn on again. In a couple of minutes or maybe an hour, you will be able to get to the login.
