I have a Gateway DX 4320 with an 880g chipset. I'm running a AMD Phenom II X6 1035T CPU along with an Nvidia GeForce 750ti. I'm thinking this cpu is bottlenecking the Video card a bit. From the things I'm reading it seems as if a FX 8350 or FX 8320 should work in this system, yet I find no evidence anywhere of anyone having made this upgrade.....so what am I missing? The MB has an AM3 socket......

Basically, no, you can't upgrade to the FX processors with your motherboard.

According to AMD's page the 880G chipset supports the Athlon, Athlon II, Phenom and Phenom II processors. It makes no mention of supporting the FX processors.

I would hazard to guess the misunderstanding comes from the socket. The FX processors use the AM3+ socket rather than AM3; but the AM3+ socket can accommodate AM3 compatible processors like the Athlon II and Phenom II. That '+' makes quite a difference.
