Question DX11? Video games crashing

Jun 21, 2020
Hello guys,

So I have got a bit of a weird one. I have recently upgraded a new power supply, CPU and motherboard.

New setup is:
MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
AMD Ryzen 3600x
Asus Strix Gtx970 4GB(Old)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 4x4 (16GB) ram (Old)
Corsair TX550M power supply

Any games that I play seem to crash or freeze. I started off testing my ram with Memtest86, The test ran for around 4 hours with no faults so I do not believe it was my RAM.

Then I noticed that some of the games were crashing with a DirectX error:
GTA5: err_gfx_d3d_init
ARK: https://ibb.co/1s8Tn05
DayZ standalone I did not get an error just closed down
Rainbow Six siege didn't get an error either it just closed down.

So then I tried running the games in DirectX 10 and GTA and Ark seem to run fine using DirectX 10.

I got a lend of a new GPU (1050 ti) and tried to test the games once again using Dx11 but unfortunately the games still crashed.

I then tried to uninstall and re-install one of the games onto a different SSD but I was not successful there either as it still crashed.

Troubleshooting done:
  1. Reinstall Windows (twice)
  2. Update all drivers including BIOS
  3. Check Dxdiag
  4. Reinstall Games
  5. Run Memtest86
  6. Change GPU
  7. Remove GPU drivers using DDU
Please let me know if I can provide some sort of logs?

Any help is much appreciated thank you very much.
