i have a drive that shows as missing in Disk Management. I already tried the usual of right click and reactivate, chkdsk.exe and using the online command in diskpart. none have worked so far. is it truly dead or is there something else i can do? google hasnt given me any better results than the above. im already running recuva but i cant specifically choose the drive in question because its not showing up in the first place. when looking through everything on the computer it seems to also look through the drive in question because its showing the right amount number of drives but I'll have to wait for it to finish scanning before i can be sure. Whether it will even find all the data on the disk is a different question as well.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Make and model drive, capacity, how full?

Was the drive present at some time in the past and then suddenly disappeared?

Were you doing any sort of drive management when the drive disappeared? If so, what was being attempted?

Are you able to, as applicable, swap in known working power and data cables?

Open Disk Management. Expand the window so that all can be seen.

Take a screenshot and post the screenshot here via imgur (www.imgur.com).

Try using Powershell to determine if Windows can find the drive.

Just use "Get" cmdlets to see what Windows can discover about the drive.

Do not try to use Powershell to make some fix.

The first objective being to discover specifically what has gone astray.

it was regularly used up until the other day when upon booting it suddenly didnt show up anymore.

The drive in question can not be found with the powershell command provide in the link above, but it can be found through diskpart list disk

never mind i guess. plugging the drive into a different PC worked with no issue whatsoever. managed to pull all the data off of it. it wouldnt work on the original PC afterwards either, i really cant explain myself what the issue was.
