Question Dynamic Fan vs Active Fan ?

two almost identical cards price difference is negligible, one card claims to have dynamic fan, the other has active fan.

would I be right in assuming the "active fan" constantly blows at a set speed and can not be adjusted by software such as afterburner while the 'dynamic' fan would adjust speed when needed ?

I'm assuming the cards you're referring to belong to different brands?

Both should behave the same way.

EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 XC Black GAMING 6GB Card and EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 XC 6GB Graphics Card

both cards have the exact same spec and design except the slightly more expensive one XC boasts "Cooler Type - Dynamic Fan" and seems to come factory overclocked the cheaper one lists "Cooler Type - Active Fan"


yeah I am lost to what that means? unless its just a different name for the same thing

It should mean the same thing. Brands are guilty of using different jargon that mean the same thing.

You're just paying a little bit extra for the factory overclock.
