E1500 problem

Hello,
hi, just purchased a router (e1500) cisco. i have a laptop with WEP and XP sys .Cisco says it will only connect to the router at 54mbps. is this true

Why are you using WEP anyway? That was broken (hacked) years ago. It’s just not safe. I can’t even venture a guess why anyone wouldn't be using WPA/WPA2 w/ a modern router and laptop.
