E2160 to E5300 or better?

Running an e2160 right now at 3ghz, wondering if upgrading to the 5300 or maybe higher would be an advantage and deliver any visible performance. Its mainly used for online gaming.

If you are planning to overclock, get the E5300.

It overclocks very nicely...I had my E5300 OCed to 3.0GHz at 1.2v, then OCed to 3.6GHz at 1.31v.

I have a cheap $12 cooler, and at 3.6GHz overclock, it idles at 30'C and maxes out under 55'C while running prime95.

Thanks for the info, I read the other thread you suggested, some good ideas in there. What concerns me though is there was a comparison shown on this site a while ago, that showed the e2160 @ 3ghz hitting the same fps as the stock e6400 I think it was, Im looking for lthe link to post as well.

Im running a HD4850 right now, but I notice my cpu usage hitting 100% in crowded areas in game, thats why Im debating if an upgrade like that would actually help.

Does matter how you do see that the E2160@3ghz, it's wasn't required to be use in Gaming. It had to be overclocked in order to play.
What you have you understand that what you saw in the E2160 that was clock @3Ghz because he has to use up the core at 100%(Might have been running hot too)
But the E6400 E6500 E6300 use less usage. You can't compared two CPU's When you E2160 is only a entry mainstream CPU average everyday work.

E6000 series have better CPU core's and features. Just ask around , There is a difference in Game Quality and Performance in the E6000 series CPU, also how well your computer performances. Research a Intel CPU Chart. You best bet is either Get one of the E6000 series CPU or stay what you have for now. Also Better CPU means Better for your video card.
