this is a new computer that i bought and assembled last month, and for that past month, there were at least 4 times when it thermal shutted down.

i need help from someone that can figure out what's wrong with it. my specs are:
E6300 C2D running at stock clock stock cooling
965p-DS3
1G DDRII-667 single channel
the power supply comes with the case so i'm not exactly sure.

my problem here in a way is different from what i have read in other posts where people's cpu temperature is ALWAYS high. under normal situations, the cpu idle@26 and load around 42-44, and the reading is about the same from SpeedFan, CoreTemp, and EasyTone5.

back to the details of the shut-downs:
everytime, it happens when the system is idle, or at least semi idle, where there is only msn or BT running. the computer shuts down, probably because of overheating. i try to restart but i cant, so i wait like 30sec. then turn on the computer and go in to PC health in bios, and i see CPU temperature@ 85+ and it scares me 8O i know this is not normal but i just cant figure out a reason, so can someone help me plz? i would be more than glad to provide anymore details of my system or what happens.

i'm afraid to use it now..

thanks

edit:
temperature is Tcase i think

Since you mentioned "Tcase" you've probably read the Guide, so please list your "Results" and "Variables" as shown in the Guide, as best you can, so I can help you properly, and avoid specualtion.

My first impression when seeing a post such as this, is to refer you to the "Troubleshooting" section of the Guide:

Troubleshooting

(J) An Improperly seated CPU cooler is the leading cause of abnormally high temperatures.

Please make triple damned sure that each of the 4 clips on the stcok cooler are securely fastened completely through the motherboard. Also, be certain the fan is set in BIOS to manual 100% for now.

Hope this helps,
