Hi, everybody. I need some help here.

E6600 is very expensive than E6400. I love to play both CPU dependent & also GPU dependent games. I’ll buy the 8800GTS 640MB. I am confused about the processor (E6600 or E6400). If I buy E6600 instead of E6400 will it give more performance with the extra money? :? Please give me some suggestions.

Thanks for reading. Any comments will be helpful. Thanks in advance. :D

The difference in performance is smaller than the difference in price. The E6400 is a "better bang for the buck". If you consider OC-ing than the E6600 might be more attractive, but that depends on luck also.
Anyway, the E6400 will do 3GHz+ OCed, and will drive your GPU fluently without bottlenecking it.

Thanks for the reply. :D
Will E6400 be a bottleneck for the 8800GTS without OC? (I don’t want to OC.) If I don’t OC, will it be better to go for the E6600?

The e6400 can easily follow up with 8800..
But if you don't wanna OC at all, maybe you should consider the e6600..
I don't know how the price differences are in your country, but if you can afford it, I would say go with the e6600 :)

What brand of 8800GTS are you considering?

I would suggest going for the 8800 GTS (320 MB), which is around 100 dollars cheaper than the 640 MB version, and getting the E6600. If you don't want to OC, the extra speed and cache on the E6600 will provide a good boost for you. And from the reviews I read, there's hardly any difference between the 320 MB and 640 MB 8800 GTS versions. In my opinion, an E6600 with a 8800 GTS 320 MB will yield better performance than a E6400 with a 8800 GTS 640 MB.

Look at the CPU charts on tomshardware.com....
The e6400 goes 150+ FPS while e6600 is like 165FPS.
Yes there is better performance, BUT you won't ever notice it. Not while playing games.
Maybe it wackedywacks 2-3 seconds faster, but it's still a really fast processor. Any core2duo is.

If you do multimedia encoding or transcoding the E6600 would be helpful with its extra cache and higher clockspeed. Just wanted to point that out.
