Hey guys, my e6600 is currently at 3.2Ghz and reaching up to 59C on orthos. I want to overclock further but need some advice please!

I currently use:

Arctic Cooler Freezer Pro 7
FSB 355
Core voltage - 1.408V
Northbridge Voltage - 1.2V

Any advice guys? I want to push this chip as i don't feel like upgrading to a quad unless I really have to! How far do you reacon I can get?

Thanks a lot!

Depending on your motherboard, 400*9 = 3.6ghz would be a sweet spot for E6600. 59C is still fairly low. I wouldn't worry unless you are hitting 70s.

won't it start thermal throttling or something or other if it goes over 60.1C? im still very new to all this! thanks again. I have a Gigabyte EP45-UD3 by the way.

TJ max is 90C I think for 65nm E6x00 series processor. Your CPU won't throttle until you hit that.

Not only that, the cooler the cpu, the more inaccurate temp sensor reads.

o cool, thank you! i was put off with the "thermal specification - 60.1C". Overclock is way more technical than I'd imagined! Thanks for all the help guys, this site is invaluable!

What maximum temperature should I aim for?

so what exactly does this thermal specification of 60.1C mean? Coretemp is telling me a Tjmax of 85C, can anyone tell me the meaning of this? thanks again
