e7200 4.0MHz Booya!!

Finally got her to 4.0. What I got invested in this board and cpu, I could buy a e8400 retail cpu. Not bad IMHO. Mobo is Asus P5K SE, and elchaepo A-Data value ram 800MHz.

I know she could go higher with better ram and better cooling. I think I'm gonna get some 1066 ram and a water cooler to see what she can do.

My e2180 couldnt push over 350FSB on this board now here I am at 421.

That's a real nice overclock you got there. Blimey, I'm going to have to get my E8400 past 4.5Ghz and that'll still only be a 50% o/c 🙁. What cooling are you using, a lapped TRUE i guess?

Lapped Arctic freezer 7atm but I'm getting a water cooler to push her to 4.5. My mobo and chip cost $220 together, some peeps spend that just for their CPU or their mobo. Now I need to get rid of my 8500GT and get a ATI 4 series when they come out so I can get some real 3dmark06, I dont break 3000 with this dam 8500GT, lol my CPU gets more then my total score.

ASus P5K SE When I bought this board it was "1066 1333 OC" now look at her run over 1600, dam proud of her lol.

Disable all the normal stuff, speedstep and such.

These chips are definately going in all my budget builds.


This baby is hella fast compared to my e2180 3.0. Apps open WAY faster. Click there it is.

Is your cpu score normal. I do not know much about it, but it is way lower than my q6600 at 3 ghz.

Show pics and we'll believe you. Plus, is that a 100% stable OC or is it just for showing?

This is a great OC roadrunner! I myself limit my C2D E6600 to 3.0GHz, but I'm shooting for long term life expectency 😀 .

I'm about to install a C2Q 6700 and plan to gt it to 3.33GHz. That's after I update my P5B Deluxe Bios from 604 to 1226, install my new cpu (I'll get it wednesday coming) and all the necessary reboot to confirm it's stable. Anyway, enough about me, but congrats for your OC, especially if it's good enough for long term use.

Water Cooling does not make sense for that setup.
4.0Ghz is a good OC, but the 1.4v is the max voltage recommended for the 45nm chips.

To get much beyond 4.0Ghz, you will need to add quite a bit of wattage.
Add to that the cost of the water cooling.
You would be better served getting something like an E8500 with double the cache which would run be like getting an extra 300-400mhz at the same speed.

But I think 4.0Ghz on an E7200 w/the Artic Freezer is great.
I would be happy and stick with that.

LOL RETARD!!! You paid more for your CPU then I did! Your 3.26, I doubt that is on a 480 fsb since the numbers dont multiply right. Evidentually you dont multiply right either 480x4=1920 not 1666. Frickin Jealous NOOB! My setup was cheaper and runs faster then you piece o crap. My e2180 clocks higher then your e6300 so suck a 8=======D~~

If I had Overclockable ram I could hit 500FSB no problem. My ram wont go over 880 but hey I only paid $30 for 2G.

I have that same board, What did you do to get it stable?
Im using a 2160 and a zalman cooler.

temps are good, but I cant seem to overclock past 2.6. tried that fsb strap to 333, fsb 333, ram ddr2 667 voltage at 1.55 even, deactivated all the other stuff and no boot, your lucky.

By my calculations you will be limited to 2.99 with your ram.

The board defaults ram to 1.5 on auto try setting it at 1.8.

Might be your ram giving issues.

Sometimes 2160s run faster at x8 instead of x9.

My 2180 runs 3.3 stable on this board.

That's pretty impressive. Did you go ahead and lap the CPU also I presume? I believe the IHS can be removed fairly easily on these like on the E4XXX series, would be interesting to see what the full potential is. Mine should be in on Thursday, going to see what I can squeeze out of it with a DS3L..

thanks roadrunner, i will do so when im ready, i have tried to lower the multiplier to 6 and put the ram and strap at 333, and it still wouldnt boot. so maybe it is the ram voltage.
