Hi, I just installed an E7400 (2.8ghz) in a Gigabyte GA-EP45UD3LR and everything runs great(windows 7 64). But under windows system info it says E7400 @ 2.80Ghz 2.27Ghz does that make sense? Should they both be 2.8?
In speed fan the vcore1 is 1.07v and vcore 2 is 1.90v. Does this matter?

Thanks for your help.

Your cores are working fine. Windows system tab will list your CPU at the rated speed from Intel, then list the current working speed.

You should go into the BIOS and disable any speedstep, EIST, C1E settings. These settings downclock your CPU to save power. Check to make sure it is using the correct CPU multiplier.

If all else fails, load the BIOS defaults, it should run the processor at the stock speed.

Yeah, sometimes speedstep (intel) or Cool&Qiuet (AMD) will slow down the CPU clocks to save energy and power. You can use a program called CPU-Z to check out your CPU speeds.

Hey, Thanks a bunch. You guys were right on the money. It was speedstep, as soon as i disabled it, it went back to 2.8. However i dont mind less heat and using less power- so my question is, when Speedstep is enabled, does it always run at the lower setting or does it fluctuate. If it fluctuates how come windows doesnt show the change? Does windows only check once at startup?

Thank you again.
