E8400: Are these temperatures safe?

Hello everyone,

I am just wondering if these are safe temperatures for my e8400 @ 3.0GHz while running OCCT and playing games.

While running OCCT, my temperatures reach the following maximums: Core #1 - 69 degrees C, Core #2 - 68 degrees C.

While playing a game, such as Crisis, my temperatures reach the following maximums: Core #1 - 58 degrees C, Core #2 - 56 degrees C.

At idle, the cores are between 37-42 degrees C depending on how hot it is on that particular day.

Are these temperatures considered safe?

I don't understand how you arrived at that conclusion. :??: From the Guide:

Section 6: Scale

... as Tcase Max will be exceeded before Tjunction Max is reached, Tcase Max is always the limiting thermal specification...

Scales are ordered from highest to lowest Tcase Max, according to Intel Thermal Specifications...

Your temperatures are well within Intel's specifications for your E8400, regardless of whether you have the C0 or E0 variant. If you haven't read the Guide, Tcase is CPU temperature, and Tjunction is Core temperature, which runs 5c higher, as you can see from the Scales. Also, OCCT is not appropriate for thermal benchmarking. Whoops! My mistake! For some reason I looked at the entry for E6x00 instead of E8x00...
