E8400 P5Q Pro Overclock

Hello All,
I am a long time Forum Browser first time Poster. I was working on getting my CPU 24/7 Stable with Prime95. Well; I have hit it. I have an E8400 E0 Stepped Processor and a P5Q Pro Motherboard.
My Voltages were:
vCore: 1.225, 1.20 in CPU-z
GTL: Auto
PLL: 1.56
NB voltages: 1.20
DRAM: 2.0
these settings produced no errors for 22 Hours
Man this is so fun.
I have a Zerotherm BT-90 Air Cooler "looks like a big copper butterfly
My temps were:
Idle: CPU 33 Degrees Celsius
Cores 40 Degrees Celsius
Load: CPU Max was 53 Degrees was not constantly at that temp
Cores Max was 59 Degrees Average was 54 Degrees
I was wondering how much more room I have with my current setup.
I have a Antec 900 and the fans were setup for medium during the Prime95 Testing

guess I need to fire up prime 95 and cpu-z damn i wish took them. i just switched over to windows 7 professional that student discount for a full copy at 40 bucks was fantastic. I will duplicate with ss

testing my cpu-z validation As an aside. I think my Ram might be holding back my overclock. Right now it is 1:1 and i tried pushing my bclock to 463. it loaded and i started up prime95 and when it went under load it blue screened. The ram was just ddr2 800 ram from g.skill and it does not have the best reputation for overclocking.

So what is your CPU frequency? I may have missed it, lol I am a bit newer to OC'ing in the grand scheme of things.
EDIT: I see your CPU-Z upload, nvm! 4.0ghz on air, eh? That's impressive! I may have to try it..



My machine is an E8400 as well, OC'd to 3.6 ghz 24/7 stable. I use it for gaming nearly every day and it runs for days on end 100% stable.

Thinking of going water cooled so I can try and get near 4.4ghz though, is that where you are at?

You probably do not need water cooling if you do high quality air. My CPU cooler isn't even the best. If you got a top notch 120 mm cpu cooler you could easily get yours past 3.6 GHz. Btw what are your voltages for your cpu and such. I thought my setup was 100% stable, till I tested it out with prime95. b4 i specified my voltages i would only get 3 hours without an error. With those settings in vista I was getting 24 hours, I am duplicating my test right now to post. If I had some higher quality ram, I think I could get an even higher overclock.

My voltages are all stock, I haven't run Prime95 or any other program to test it actually. The machine runs 24/7 essentially, stays cools, and does great with games--so I never thought to test it.

I suppose testing it would show me any weak points in my OC though yah? I believe my motherboard really helps out with my OC, the eVGA 709i SLI FTW with 100% solid state capacitors. Really great board with vDROOP control. Made my OC a breeze!

Running Vista Ultimate 64bit if it makes bit of difference.

I've got the same exact processor and specs as you. I just followed your specs last night and got exactly the same results, except. I'm using 1.232 V and it's stable with a max temperature of 49C using a Corsair H50.

Thats fantastic. Your Mini-watercooling setup is a little higher then my cooling on my cpu. What temperature are you reading btw... i.e. are you reading at the cores or at the cpu tin I use CPUID's Hardware Monitor to monitor my temperatures.
