Hi there!

My question is: Would the parts mentioned in the title work together? I've gathered that the X38 works well with the double 4770's in crossfire but would the CPU work well too?

X38 is the same chipset as X48 and will work well, this is a superior chipset to the P45 recommended by some other guy.

Thank you, that I wasn't aware of the similarity between X38 and X48.

How much better is the X38 compared to the P45?
From a gaming point of view, and considering the parts mentioned is the X38 worth the higher cost or will the P45 get the job done well enough?

I would if I were using two GTX 295's. But there's a chance he's getting a special deal on the X38, and it is a better-featured chipset.

I'm not getting a special deal, just asking the question :)

Glad we solved this "problem" now onto the problem of buying a dual core instead of a quad core *laughs at op*

:(

Limited budget is why

My dual is working quite well, and gives me better game benchmarks than pretty much any quad would, in most games. Still, that won't last much longer. Most builds are X3 or X4 now.

That's why we are recommending the X3 720 for budget builds so much. It's a nice mix of Ghz and cores once overclocked. You can also get a good crossfire board at a good price for AM2+ or AM3.
