Hey everyone, I've been looking into possibly OCing my E8600, however I'm not sure if my current temps are really safe to do so.
When I boot up Windows and run CoreTemp, my CPU idles at 37-38C. I then downloaded Prime95 and ran that for a few minutes and it got up to 70C. That seems very high to have your CPU running at that temp for an extended period of time, but again I don't know that much at the moment about overclocking as I'm still researching it. I'm assuming I would need to buy a third party CPU cooler in order to have a stable OC.
The 37-38C idle and 70C load temp are with completely stock settings and heatsink/fan. The case I'm using is a Thermaltake V9 VJ4000 is that makes much of a difference. Any insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
