Good day,

Ive read this whole forum, googled and searched for 5 days at least but cant seem to find anyone with the same specs and bios.
My pc:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Wolfdale @3.33GHz
2X2 GB OCZ DDR 2 PC2-6400
TMGi1 Thermaltake Cooler
EP430-S3L Gigabyte
Thermaltake Bach Vx, 3 Fans inside
GTX260 Gainward
630 W Power supply

----------------------------------------------------------

I increased my FSB to 400
Multiplier 10X
Ive learnt why it goes to 6X when idle (tnx for the sticky)
Ive also increased VCore to 1.225
------------------------------------------------------------
At first i had it on auto and pc did HyperPI_0.99 no problems
Then it crashed on me later on
I put it back on stock
------------------------------
If anyone can give me feedback on what i am doing wrong?

Did you change your RAM timings? Increasing the FSB will speed up the RAM too.

Set the RAM to a 1:1 ratio. This way the RAM's speed is directly linked to the FSB. Which you are running at 400mhz which will make the RAM run at 400 x 2 = 800. Matching your RAM's specs

That may be your problem right there.

You didn't jump from 333 to 400 did you? OCing needs to be done in small steps.

Did you read the OCing sticky?

how much should u raise your fsb at a time? I also have a E8600. When you do raise it by that amount should you run prime for 22 hours? Is it ok to sleep and let it run?

Raise it by 5-10MHz. I'd say run it at least 8 hours, but more is fine. Monitor your temps, and yes you can run it while you sleep.

if you bought an e8600 to only go to 4ghz then any e8400 would of done, also when you get better at ocing then you will realise why it was a waste of the extra cash and should of been spent on cooling.

Well I have a xigamatek 1284 , it does a great job. I plan on getting watercooling for the summer time, my room gets hot! yea, it was a waste of extra cash. Maybe I can get it up to 5ghz on water. ;)

5ghz mabee lol i got a e8600 on phase and can bench at 5.3+ but for stabilty at low volts i run it at 4.8

the trouble is at these speed even for me :p i need beter compomemts such as a ddr3 mobo and ddr3 is what is limiting me atm because my 1066 ram doesnt oc much.

with water cooling do a custom loop its the only way that you will feel happy otherwise you will swap out components in no time.

I beg to differ.. My E8400 C0 stepping doesn't do 4ghz without 1.52v under idle.. I doubt you could call that easy..

Don't expect over 5.1 Ghz, that is the highest I got with an $800 watercooling loop and too much time. You would be surprised how far you can go with that E8600 at stock voltages, so keep them there and increase by 10 Mhz and test for 8 hours of prime. When it isn't stable increase the voltage by a little bit until it is stable and repeat.

That's one crazy processor man.. I'll try getting highest clock speed with 1.5v.. I doubt i could hit your clocks since i'm using air cooling..
