To kind of understand a bit of what my whole setup is, this is somewhat of an explanation:
I currently have my modem in my kitchen. I have a 50 ft Ethernet cable simply running across the side of the wall to get to my computer, which is in a different room. I want to be able to move my computer upstairs. To get to this room the easiest, I would have to go up into the "attic" of the kitchen and run it a bit to where there is the side of the room (There is a "door" in the side of the room where I want to move it which leads to the "attic"). The issue is, the attic is extremely nasty and very soft. After all, my house is over 100 years old. Now, doing this will probably get the best performance. I however have a Wi-Fi extender. This has an ethernet port on it. I'm not sure if this actually acts as an ethernet port or what, as I have never actually tested it, however I would assume that it acts as one... This extender is just on the opposite wall of the room I want to move my computer to. Would it work well to have it going through that? My PC does not have any kind of Wi-Fi so it cannot connect directly without buying one, however would this act roughly the same as just Wi-Fi would, or would it be better or worse? My internet connection is only 6 Mbps as it is limited by my location. I do not have any use for any LAN kind of things, so this will always be limited to this speed. Will this noticeably effect the speed or ping of my internet? If so, how much? Which option would be the best in this case?
