Sorry for the repeat - put first thread in software section.

I used Easus partion manager to wipe data from an external Seagate Freeagent 1TB drive that had been partioined using the same software on a windows vista system. The current laptop was an Asus X550 running windows 8.1. The external HDD showed up as drives G: & H:, they were selected to wipe data, I applied the actions and Easus went about its job, no errors or anything. When the system rebooted after performing the 2 actions it went into bios screen only!

I have disabled secure boot etc and have managed to get it to boot from a bootable CD. Using Minitool Partition Wizard I have scanned, quick & full, both the internal hard drive & the HDD but they both show up as 'Basic MBR (Unallocated) 931.5 GB (they are both 1TB drives), whereas my internal drive showed up, even with Easus, as partitioned C: & D: drives prior to the operations.

I should add I have over 12 yrs exp in IT and there is no way, as according to Easus support I have 'ACCIDENTALLY WIPED MY C: & D: DRIVES'. Their answer seems to be see if Easus revovery can help, or you are basically Scr****!

As the software only completed 2 operations before rebooting, how could I have erased 4 different partitions simultaneously?

Any help to recover internal drives would be greatly appreciated. I am currently downloading bootable Knoppix to see if any drives are visible. * Update - No Drives visible, not suprising as it is all unallocated space*

As the system has only being going into bios, the drive should not been written to in any other way.

Many thanks in advance!

Good luck! You might have to install windows from scratch. Then the MB drivers from Asus. The wipe probably wiped the boot files from the other disk too. If windows was installed with more than one drive installed, boot files will be installed on the other drive as well.

Thanks for the idea but no system recovery available. If I disable CSM it boots straight into bios. If CSM is enabled then it says "Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key".

I have scanned the rmoveable drive on another pc, as both drives seem to have the same problem, testdisk was unable to find any partitions although it did detect the physical drive.

The laptop did not come with a recovery disk, so I will try Asus support when they open tommorow. Seems Easus did 2 operation, but they were wiping both drives, not the selected partitions. I had selected 1 pass to wipe the data and fear everythign has been overwritten.

Any other suggestions would be welcome, desperate to try anything.

Look in your laptop manual. There should be an option to boot into a maintenance mode or a recovery mode. Especially with laptops which do not come with a windows disk. There is a way to reset the laptop back to the way it was, at factory specs, when you received it.

Look at the screen when it boots, there should options for keys to enter into various maintenance modes on boot.

Thanks for replying mate.

Didn't come with a manual, just quick start guide. only other setup available is "Launch EFI Shell from filesystem device", which gives warning, not found. I have learned that you should install Asus Backtrack if your laptop does not come with a restore disk, this is google info. I am trying to get in touch with support as I type this, any other suggestions would be welcome, thanks again mate, for your time in reading and responding.

Im at a complete loss at the moment.
