Easy replacement question

I'm considering replacing my GF2MX card (itself a replacement for a broke Ti4200) for a Radeon card. My question is what would you consider to be a good performance-replacement to the Ti4200, while being cheaper, or at least at the same price as the Ti4200?

Are you talking initial or current GF4ti prices? Current price, then it's either the GF4ti (obviously) or the R9600non-pro(not SE). They both have their strengths. Depends on your style of gaming.

If you are talking about original price (at least $200US), a 'good' replacement from a GF4ti (if it still worked in your rig) would be an R9800series card (baring the SE), as anything less wouldn't be worth significant outlay of money unless you could sell the GF4ti for a price equal to an R9600Pro.

For your situation the R9600Pro would be ok since you no longer have the GF4ti and are upgrading from an MX, but once again the R9800/9800PRO would likely offer the best bang for your buck. IF you prefer nV you could also consider an FX5900XT/SE/LX. I would still say that the R9800 is your best bet, the R9600Pro is your money concious bet, and the FX5900XT is your nV choice.

In order of best to worst IMO (and many would agree)

R9500PRO>R9600PRO>R9600>R9500

So an R9500PRO would be very sweet indeed. The R9600PRO is also nice as it <i>'can'</i> sometimes overclock very well.

The R9600 would be a good choice, and the R9500 may often leave you yearning for your GF4ti.
