the video card will be very limiting in a gaming computer. It will struggle to run modern games at anything over 1024 x 768. Also keep in mind it does not come with an OS, so if you need one you'll have to add that to the cost. Unless the overclock is done with stock voltage you will need a better cooler than the stock cpu cooler. If you want decent gaming you need to upgrade the video card to at least a 4770 or a 4850 on the ati side, or a 9800gtx or gts 250 on the nvidia side.

The video card is weak. They suspiciously don't mention the specs of the PSU (very important), that RAM likely doesn't come with heatspreaders, and there's no OS. That's not a good deal for $600.

2nd gen C2 heatsinks are half the size of first gen heatsinks. You will need a better heatsink.

The RAM is undoubtedly "value" RAM. Nothing wrong with that - as long as you know what you are getting.

Video card - well, at least you know what you are getting.

The problem is the case/PSU combination. I googled the case and:
http://www.primarycomputer.ca/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,529/category_id,13/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,26/

Combined price $58 CDN, no specs.

And I suspect that "Assembly Fully Assembled and Tested" means "Yep. It boots." Maybe.

Steady 0.5mm steel construction

0.5mm? Sounds pretty delicate? Are all cases that... thin?

thanks for the quick replies guys!

i guess the computer isn't as great of a deal as i initially thought. the thing is that i'm trying to find something pretty much extremely cheap (less than $600-700) while giving me the most possible value.

maybe some of you could give me some suggestions on what the best 'bang for my buck' would be?

I know this post is a few days old, but if you haven't purchased yet, and you'd rather get one pre-built, check out cyberpowerpc.com.

I finallt got lazy and got my new rig from them recently. Good prices (the best I found) and seems to be good quality. Find one that comes with the free shipping and configure it the way you want it. You can order it w/o an OS, mouse, etc. to save money on components you don't need. The base free shipping options for both AMD and Intel start out around $550 US with no OS.

Do NOT use the custom configurators. You won't get the free shipping. I had read wuite a few negative reviews about them, but most of them were old. Found quite a few positive reviews as well, so I decided to take a chance. I couldn't be happier.

$600 - $700 budget

e8500/Sapphire 4870 combo - $360
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.186983
GA-EP45-UD3L /OCZ Fatal1ty 550W combo - $150
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.190109
4GB OCZ Reaper DDR2 800 - $35
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227267
CM HAF - $150
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160

This build is ~$695 before shipping and after rebates. The original HAF is a great case, but there is a new/smaller model of it out that could shave $20 off the total if you want.
