ECC-DIMM or DIMM?

I currently own one stick of Samsung 8gb PC3L-10600 RAM. I'm looking at buying a stick that says {Samsung 8gb ECC-DIMM PC3L-10600 RAM}. My question is, does the "ECC" matter? Will ECC-DIMM RAM run exactly like my current Samsung stick? Will it fit in my RAM slot?

Solution
The T1600 does support ECC RAM. From the PC Specs:

Memory: 4 DIMM slots; up to 8GB 1333MHz non-ECC memory; up to 16GB 1333MHz ECC memory

You could certainly try and mix them. Mixing RAM is never guaranteed to work, but there is a chance they will. Worth a shot, but if you're buying RAM it would be best to try and get the same RAM, ideally sold in a pack together.
No, ECC is quite different and many consumer motherboards don't even support it. You'll need to check your motherboard specs to see if it is even supported.

Beyond motherboard support, it isn't recommended to mix the two.

I'm running the Dell Precision T1600 (a Dell workstation). I've heard ECC-DIMM ram is compatible with workstations, are you sure it won't work?
