Ecc memory on non ecc mobo

I bought ecc momery and i put it on a non ecc mobo but it starts and it turns off is the problem the ecc memory or something else?

ECC memory will never work on a non ECC motherboard, you need non ECC memory. The turning off is the POST check telling you it can't use that memory.

I work in a datacenter half the week and a lot of our clients are upgrading their server's memory, looks like there is a sale on DDR3 at least across the board. Why I have no clue though.

Seems that way since DDR4 is already getting pretty cheap, the motherboards as well. They need to start putting disclamers that it is not for normal MOBO's or I am going to go insane.
