ECC Ram for AM4 motherboard

Solution
There is a *big* difference between buffered and unbuffered memory. They are not compatible. For AM4 motherboards, you need unbuffered/unregistered memory. Server motherboards usually use buffered/registered memory. If you get the wrong kind, it probably won't even go in the DIMM slot.
Ryzen cpu supports ecc ram, but it is up to motherboard manufacturer if they enable it. Look for example at asus ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO does not support ecc ram, but PRIME X370-PRO supports it, so you just need to look up your board. And you don't need x370 chipset, b350 can support ecc too.

Basically you need unbuffered memory for personal pc. Buffered are for servers and have additional controller, it slows it down but increases stability, prevents data loss and overall helps with handling bigger rams.
