Recently I have upgraded my system from 12GB to 48Gb, they both run ECC Registered memory (10600R and 12800R in the upgrade's case). This is all done on an older X58 Board with a x5690. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Make sure you BIOS is not set manually to 1600MHZ memory speed, because processor only supports up to 1333.

Did you try putting only 1 stick of 8GB?
I probably shouldve expanded my issue.
I have tried with 1 Stick, and the system will Not even post, whereas i could run easily with 6*2 config of 10600R.
I saw another guy that was running a similar config of 48GBs of RDIMMs (72bit data and all) on [H]ardforum, and running 8 GB dimms on x58 is no problem, even on i7's which are hardware limited to 24Gb.
The board I am running is a P6X58-E-WS.

Drop your ram down to 1066Mhz, when i dropped a x5690 in my Asus rampage 3 extreme board thats all it would handle.

Ended up swapping out to a 980x so i could run 1600Mhz. If you catch them at the right time the i7 980x can be as cheap as the xeon X5690. My 980x also OC's higher then the xeon did as well.

Was this with ECC Registered?
I have bumped it down again, nothing, again.

Thew only info I see is this MB doesn't handle 8GB modules. 4GB max

I am not an expert but most motherboards will not let you run ECC and regular ram at the same time. Its got to be one or the other. I remember one motherboard I saw limited the size of the module on ECC but not as much as the regular ram

So it could be an ECC ram capacity limiting?
That would definitely answer why my 2GB sticks are working, but not my 8.
But that doesnt explain why others have done this, ON CONSUMER BOARDS, and managed to get 48GBs working?

I will do ANYTHING to get to the point he did.

Looked at your board again "Un-buffered Memory" means non registered also.
I'm USING ECC REGISTERED, with an UNMODDED bios, on a 6*2 config of 10600R.
This is another of those retarded limitations set by these Boardmakers, oh well, Chinese x79 boards exist, and they ALL support ECC Registered.
