Hi,
i made a topic about my new build not posting recently.
I just found out that my ram is ECC RDIMM --- HMA451R7MFR8N-TF - SK Hynix 1x 4GB DDR4-2133 RDIMM PC4-17000P-R Single Rank x8 Module

My board is gigabyte b450m s2h. On their website i can see that they have written ----- Dual Channel Non-ECC Unbuffered DDR4, 2 DIMMs

Can this be a reason for not posting? I dont have a speaker to connect so i cant hear beeps.

Solution
From what i have found on the internet registered ram (my type) wont work on a board that calls for unbuffered ECC/non ECC ram.

Is this true?

Unfortunately, it’s true!
RDIMMs aren’t compatible with UDIMMs.
So the problem isn’t being ECC module on a Non-ECC motherboard, but it’s being RDIMM module in a UDIMM motherboard.

Hi!
Normally ECC RAM modules should run in Non-ECC mode on such a motherboard as yours (unless mentioned otherwise).
So no, I don’t think that this is the problem.

Can you please try those DIMMs into another PC?

Hi,
i have:

1.
HMA451R7MFR8N-TF - SK Hynix 1x 4GB DDR4-2133 RDIMM PC4-17000P-R Single Rank x8 Module

2.
Gigabyte b450m s2h motherboard

On my motherboard site it says :
  • Dual Channel Non-ECC Unbuffered DDR4, 2 DIMMs

So my question is - will this rdimm prevent my pc from posting because the motherboard doesnt support rdimm RAM?
