I am having a problem with my ECS KA3 MVP and startup with bios.

I was having a problem with a video card install and could not get it to work.

Was having shut down problems and finally the computer would not start. I tried all kinds of stuff and finally removed drive and looked at files andf could not boot ini or msconfig.

I tried several things and finally formated drive to reinstall windows. Put drive back in and cannot get bootup or bios to work. I can get first splash screen with ECS logo for about ten seconds but it goes black and does nothing. Lights on memory keep going up and down but screen shows nothing.

I tried top hat flash and the cmos clear as well as pulling battery and then everything for a complete redo on setting everything up again and it still just gives the splash screen for a few seconds and then sits there.

Any help or suggestions would be helpful.

ECS KA3 MVP Mobo
Ultra Products X3 psu works fine tested with apevia tester
tried several sticks of memory but think it is something with bios.

Do you still have the video card in the machine that you were having problems with? If so take it out and go back to the original video card. See if that helps.

Of course I do not have that card in, it is definetely something with motherboard or bios.

Bios will not reset or reload from top hat flash.

Go into BIOS and disable the splash screen. It is probably obscuring the error message that tells you what is wrong. Like maybe it is looking for a boot floppy? When you reset the BIOS, this often gets enabled even if you do not have a floppy. If your BIOS is set to halt on errors, then it will go no further.

If this turns out to be the error, just go into BIOS and disable the floppy, and also disable the "boot up floppy seek" function if it is there.
