ECS GeForce6100PM-M2 v7

i have a ECS GeForce6100PM-M2 v7 and can only put 4gb memory ram in it, i am running windows 7 home premium 32bit sp1 . i have been told that if i install windows 7 64bit i should be able to put upto 16gb memory ram in. is that true.

It depends on what version of the motherboard you have.
V2.0 (http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=857&MenuID=20) supports up to 4GB.
V3.0 (http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=988&CategoryID=1&MenuID=20&LanID=0) supports up to 16GB.

I somehow missed the v7 at the end. It does appear that, according to the mobo specs, it will support 16GB of DDR2 800/667/533/400 DDR2 SDRAM.
Yes, it is true that you will need a 64 bit version of Windows 7 or any OS to be able to use (access) the 16GB of RAM.

thats great thanks, theres nothing else on the pc that might be able to stop me running 64bit is there.

As far as I can tell there is nothing from the specs you provided to prevent you from installing the 64 bit version of Windows 7. Note that going from 32 bit to 64 bit is not an in-place upgrade and requires a clean install of Windows. You might want to check for 64 bit drivers for the motherboard.

after waiting for a month, reinstalling windows 7 64bit and updating all my pc, went to put the new memory in and found they had sent me ecc instead of non-ecc. what a pain in the ass

major problem i finally got new memory ram , all set up for it to go in and i put it in and its not working.
i bought 2 of these and was told they would work with my motherboard

but not my motherboard is only showing up 2gb ram of my old raminstead of 4gb and when i try to change them around and makesure they are sat right it only works when both are installed. any ideas.

You bought two 4GB sticks, correct? After installing both you only see 2GB instead of 8GB?

no the 2 x 4gig ones didnt work so i put my old ones back in and only 2gb is showing up, but 1 wont run without the other one being in. (so if i only put 1 x 2gb in it doesnt start up, until i put the 2nd 2 gb in)
