I have a Mobile Athlon XP 2500+ that defaults to 6x on the multiplier and I can't get it to run any higher than 1.2GHz (200 X 6) I noticed that the KT600-A doesn't have a BIOS that allows for multiplier changing so the best I can do is up the FSB to overclock, that's where I have the 1.2GHz, it started at 600MHz (100 X 6). Does anybody know what I could do to push the multiplier up? Any BIOS that I can download that allow for it? Thanks for the help.

I know some Athlon's were sold with locked multipliers, this could be one of them. My XP 3000 is locked. If it is in fact locked, and you have big balls, there is a video here on how to unlock it!

it's a mobile, it has unlocked multipliers, trust me, the board is not allowing the option to.

Your best bet is the old wire mod. Unfortunately, I dont have a link here, I'm at work. PM wusy, I'm sure he'll have it.

You could get a better board...nah, just figure out the wire trick, or close some bridges.

It's amazing how certain boards like the Abit NF7-S had grand features like the MCP-T southbridge (Soundstorm, etc), and multiplier adjustments, yet people buy stuff like the NF7-S2 (lacking those features) because it's "newer".

Well Crashman, I have the Abit AN7. I only bought this POS board because it was for a friend and it was cheap. The only processor I had to put in there was a mobile 2500+ (long story) I actually learned now that not all boards you can buy have multiplier adjustments...that was a nice lesson. Amazingly enough however, this board worked on startup just perfectly...just no multiplier adjustments...arghh...

I've heard of programs that allow you to use the Power Now! features to change multipliers from inside windows. The best method using your board would of course be to close some bridges.
