Hello everyone!

I recently bought a computer from a friend (shouldn't have to, probably), and there's a really REALLY annoying thing going on with it.
It shuts down by itself as a specific hour and I can't turn it back on unless I wait for a specific hour to come.

I thought it was a problem from the BIOS, but when I entered in the power options in the BIOS, I just found things that I have no idea what they're doing, so I thought I should not screw it more than it already is and ask you, guys.

What do you think it's the problem? (And also, excuse me if the thread is wrong, I'm new)

Nothing wrong in the Power Options of the Windows (I got Windows 8).

When it shuts down, it can't be turned back on until a specific hour next day. I don't think there's a function in the OS that can do that.

I'd really appreciate some help.

Try turning off the power supply or unplugging the power cord then removing the CMOS battery for few minutes.
Can you give an example regarding the "specific hour" for shutting down and powering on again? If it shuts down at 11, let's say, you can turn it on only at 8 next day, otherwise it would not POST? And if passing 8, it would turn on only at 8 the other day? It sounds like voodoo.

So it shuts down at 10(pm) and I can't turn it back on until 7am (I think) next day. If it's 7am I can turn it on and it works perfectly until 11pm. Basically I can't access the computer between 11pm and 7am(following day).

I'm not really familiar with the power supply...would you mind to give me a few steps to do what you said?

And thanks for the answer! ^^

There's nothing in the Parental Control Settings thing, it's not set.
And you mean plug it in a real radio? (Sorry, I'm really not familiar with the hardware of a PC).

I'm 21 (from Romania). And there's no way that my parents are involved into this, the guy I've bought the computer from told me he did have that problem before but he thought that when I changed the OS, it'll disappear.

And if I may ask, what's a programmable socket? Or what do you use it for?

I basically only lets devices run on it a certain times eg. the wall socket only gets power between X - X if its outside those times in automatically turns off (like you pressed the on off switch) its used so parents can stop people gaming all night or businesses so their comps arnt left on over night . Do any light appear on your comp between the hours it wont let you turn it on? (if so its its a comp issue, if not its likely to be a programable socket). For finally clarification plug in any other electronic device e.g.. lamp ect and see if it turns off between those hours.
