Hello,

I have an ECS RC410-M mb. It is the stock board on an HP computer. Both the HP and EliteGroup website state the maximum ram is 2gb. Has anyone been able to upgrade over 2gb? I want to try 4gb if possible.

Thanks!

On my HP asterope 3 motherboard, I put 2gb in one slot and 1gb in the other slot and both the bios and Vista indicated 2gb was present. I took out the 1gb and the bios and Vista still indicated that 2gb was present. I put 2gb in the now empty slot and both the bios and Vista indicated that 3gb was present. My suspicion is that 4gb in one slot--if I had one to test--would show up as 4gb in both the bios and Vista.

Thanks for the reply drdjones. I am using WinXP SP3 and got the same results (2x2gb is being seen as 3gb total).

Unfortunately, I don't have a single 4gb stick either, so can't test your theory...

I have pavilion a1320in can i too upgrade ???????

I have one in my HP a1473w Media addition.

The amount of memory that your system reports, is not always the amount of actual installed memory. For example, if you have 4GB installed, 32 bit versions of Windows will typically report 3.2GB due to a limitation of Windows itself. Also note that different Windows programs report available and maximum memory differently, which can be confusing. If you find that you need more memory, we suggest expanding your system memory, since this is the most effective performance increase, and the one that is easiest to perform.

MAX MEMORY FOR XP IS ONLY 4GIGS. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the chart for max memory usage.

Remember too that it depends on what your motherboard can handle...and I don't know if these ecs rc410-m's will handle more then 4gigs...4 is the highest i have heard of in them so only at your own risk.....
