News ECS readies 14-inch laptop with AMD Krackan octa-core CPU — motherboard maker also has two Snapdragon X-powered laptops up its sleeves

Jeez ECS, I though they went out of business years ago, remember their really low quality motherboards from the Athlon/Duron days and going through RMA's like sweets.
Never heard of this company.

Krackean is only interesting if it has better than expected graphics performance or is really cheap, so maybe this is a good sign.

They make the worst cheap products...
The only bad boards I see in my life come from them. (GOT two boards from them and all died with one year)
Ecs is worse than that chineses knockoff counterfeit.

Now you mention it, the worst mobo I had was ECS.

So, I hope this is not as bad. But I'm lowering expectations

ECS is the same company as PC Chips, who were infamous for installing fake cache chips (just inert little black plastic rectangles) onto their 486 motherboards. After Intel quit making motherboards, ECS was OEM for HP and Lenovo, as well as Fry's "GQ" (Great Quality) PCs.
