Question Edge will not load websites

Hi,

Some time ago I did something (I can’t remember what precisely) to stop Edge taking up resources in the background as I use Firefox as my browser. Recently I was having trouble with a website and decided it could be a Firefox issue so attempted to open the site in Edge. Not only could I not open that particular site, but Edge will not open any site whatsoever. I been trying several fixes I've found online and nothing seems to work. I keep getting the message:

Hmmm… can't reach this page
The connection was reset.

Try:

• Checking the connection
• Checking the proxy and the firewall
• Running Windows Network Diagnostics

ERR_CONNECTION_RESET


How can I get Edge working again?

Router - make and model (or Modem/Router if combined)?

The router's logs if available and enabled may provide some clue.

Who has full admin rights to the router? You will need help from that person.

What "online fixes" failed? References?

I've found, User log, Firewall log and Debug log. Are these useful?

Look in Reliability History and Event Viewer.

Either one or both may be capturing some related error codes, warnings, or informational events.

Start with Reliability History. Much more user friendly and the time line format may reveal some patterns.

Event Viewer requires more time and effort.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion. I can find no critical events related to Edge in the Reliability History. As for the Event Viewer, I can find no errors that have the word 'Edge' in them , assuming that's what I'm looking for in Windows Logs>Application. I can only find 'edgeupdatem' and 'edgeupdate' which both have event ID of '0'. The last 'edgeupdate' was recorded on January this year and I know edge has been not working for a lot longer than that. I've also flushed the DNS and NetBIOS Cache and reset the Hosts file. Edge will still not load any websites.

I found a fix. It was a Kaspersky issue, detailed here. Thanks for your help.
