What software are you using? If you are using Resolve you may want more GPU than CPU otherwise A+

Using mostly After Effects & Illustrator, maybe small-time gaming (Battlefield 1 once a week or so).

Good catch. That cpu cooler is definitely not going to be enough to cool that cpu running stock. I'd be very supprised if that cpu doesn't hit at least 90c under full load.

Would I be better off with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or would the end result still be the same?

The cooler master 212 evo won't fit in that case. I'd also suggest getting a case with additional top mounted exhaust fan. If you use that case, you'll notice when you hold your hand on the top of the case that it will get warm when heat tries to rise.

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cools much better than the stock cooler. My guess is that you would shave off about 25c compared to the stock cooler.

The 212 evo won't allow for enough overlocking head room when it comes to thermals. Also unlocked processors don't come with stock coolers, with exception to the 4790k.

CRYORIG h7 will fit and is a pretty nice cooler.

SPEC comes with 2/3 coolers preinstalled, meaning I wouldnt have to buy them additionally for 100R later on. Yet the 100R has very good reviews around the internet.

I think you'll get better thermals in the spec-03 with unblocked front intake fans. Plus it's a newer
design case.
